| Breaking News |  | Sunday, May 8th, 1814: Bills Bangs Out 5 Base Hits After the Montecristi HS 16-15 loss to Paraparaumu Beach HS and his 5-hit day left fielder Frozen Bills told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books, but you won't necessarily win the ballgame."
The 16-year-old player got into the record book today with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Paraparaumu Beach HS Shawks.
The skipper of the Weavers spoke glowingly of Bills, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Frozen did that to perfection today. I just wish some more our players swung the bat as good as him. We might have won the game."
F. Bills singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off S. Duncan in the 8th.
Looking at his 1814 season stats, Bills has compiled a .432 batting average in 28 games with a .449 on-base percentage, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 19 runs. |  | Saturday, May 7th, 1814: Hutchens No-Hits Shawks! Renato Hutchens was untouchable today at Stadio de Montecristi, displaying a good fastball, a wicked curve and an unhittable change in his 7-0 win against the Paraparaumu Beach HS Shawks. The Montecristi HS hurler did not allow a single hit, fanning 3 while walking 4 and entering the record books.
"Hey, this is great," Hutchens told reporters after the game. "Every pitcher wants a no-hitter. This is nice, but I just want to win. The no-hitter is just a little extra icing on the victory cake."
In 7 starts this season, Hutchens has picked up 4 wins while suffering 1 loss.
