In a brilliant performance at Manchester Rounders Grounds, Manchester pitcher Tender Pink Horn entered an elite group today by tossing a no-hitter against the Sherwood Florists. Hurling a complete game he fanned 1 and walked 2 in the 3-0 victory.
In the clubhouse, Horn said, "I was getting my offspeed stuff over so they couldn't sit on the fastball. My guys made some nice plays behind me, too, and cut off several hits."
When asked if this might be a turning point for the club, spurring a dash for the pennant, the Manchester manager responded, "Now come on, guys. You know one game doesn't make a season. Baseball's a funny game, but if we stay healthy we should be right there."
This season Horn has a 8-2 record with a 2.72 ERA. |
 | Saturday, June 25th, 1814: Innuganti Hurt, Out for 11-12 Months
"I'm frustrated right now," said Sherwood reliever Backyard Innuganti. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Florists, that's where he will be spending the next 11-12 months. Innuganti suffered a fastball in nutsack in today's game against Liverpool while throwing a pitch. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."
This year Innuganti has made 10 relief appearances with 1 save. In 11.1 innings, he has fanned 9 hitters and recorded no wins and 4 losses with a 4.76 ERA.

It was a razor-sharp performance by Joseph Huff of the Sherwood Florists against the West Staines Little Bustards. He fashioned a fine 5-hitter in blanking them 4-0 and chalked up no strikeouts and 3 walks.
In 11 starts this season Huff has fashioned a 4-6 record and a 5.23 ERA.
