| Breaking News | | Saturday, July 9th, 1814: Llamas Blank Sitar Heroes, Render Wins The Sitar Heroes manager was philosophical after his team was shut out by the New Delhi Llamas 5-0.
"It was just one of those games, shake it off and do better next time," he said.
Scotch Rocks Render blanked them on 3 hits with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs. They were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Render said.
"I set them up pretty good, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 1814 Render has worked 122.2 innings with 106 strikeouts en route to a 11-0 record and 1.32 ERA. | | Sunday, July 3rd, 1814: Pevaeta Superb Against Kashmir "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Sitar Heroes manager told reporters after today's game.
The Sweaters ran into a buzzsaw as Catch Pevaeta cut them down to size 1-0 with a 3-hit shutout.
His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game whitewash the Mumbai hurler doled out 3 walks and registered 10 strikeouts.
In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "Catch goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."
Pevaeta also got some praise from the Kashmir manager.
"He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings."
Checking out his stats for the year, Pevaeta has racked up 6 wins and 6 losses in 15 starts, 3.22 ERA and struck out 87 batters in 100.2 innings. | | Wednesday, June 22nd, 1814: Putnam Twirls Doors to Shutout Win Green Bean Putnam was downright nasty in pitching a 4-0 shutout against Mumbai. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Sitar Heroes were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 3-hit shutout the Doors hurler chalked up 9 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
This year-to-date Putnam has 8 wins and 7 losses and a 2.63 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 57-45, .559 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 10.0 GB | | Record at home | 28-26, .519 PCT | | Record on the road | 29-19, .604 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-9, .438 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 18-17, .514 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 19-8, .704 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 38-37, .507 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 19-9, .679 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 12-13, .480 PCT | | Record in July | 10-10, .500 PCT |
